The photo you upload is used only to run your search. FaceTrace never adds it to any index, so it never becomes findable by anyone else, and we do not keep a copy of it. Your search history and saved results stay private to your account, never sold and never shared. You can remove them by deleting your account at any time. Results draw only on images that are already public.
FaceTrace is built for verifying identity and protecting yourself: confirming a date is real, catching a catfish, checking a driver or a buyer. It is not for surveillance, stalking, or harassment.
Read our responsible use policy →FaceTrace searches photos that are already public on the open web, much like a search engine. It is built for personal safety and identity verification, not background checks. You may not use it to make decisions about employment, credit, insurance, housing, or tenant screening, and never for surveillance, stalking, or harassment. Facial-recognition and biometric laws vary by region, so you are responsible for using FaceTrace lawfully where you live.
Every result carries a match confidence score, which measures how similar two faces are, not a confirmed identity. Look-alikes exist, and blurry or angled photos lower accuracy. Treat matches as leads to verify, not proof: open the linked source and judge for yourself. FaceTrace shows you where a similar face appears online, it does not confirm who someone is.
FaceTrace searches billions of public images across the open web through a third-party face-search provider. Results can include social profiles, news and blog posts, and public-record and mugshot sites. Coverage depends on what is publicly indexed and changes over time, so no specific platform or person is guaranteed to appear.
Yes, so you can return to them. Your search history and saved results are kept privately in your account, never sold and never shared. The photo you upload is sent to our face-search provider only to run the search, is not stored by FaceTrace, and is never added to any index or reused as a future search result. You can permanently remove everything by deleting your account.
You can delete your account at any time from Settings, which permanently removes your profile, your search history, and your saved results from our servers.
Possibly. Because FaceTrace searches images that are already public, photos of you that are public online may appear in results. FaceTrace does not host those images and cannot remove them from the sites where they live. To take one down, contact the site hosting it or file a removal request with the source.
