About

Built for the people you have not met yet.

FaceTrace is a face-search app for the moment just before you trust someone. One photo, and you can see where that face already appears on the public web, so you can decide for yourself.

The doubt we kept having

A profile is the easiest thing in the world to fake. A handful of photos, a name, a couple of lines of story, and anyone can be anyone. Meanwhile the person on the other side is a stranger you are about to meet at a bar, hand your car keys to, wire a deposit to, or let into your home.

The odd thing is that the answer is usually already public. The same face is sitting on another profile, under another name, in a news story, or in a review someone left two years ago. It is out there. It is just scattered across the web with no way to pull it together.

Every option we could find was built for someone else. Background-check services want a full legal name and a monthly plan. Investigation tools are priced for companies. Nothing was built for a person with one photo and one simple question: is this who they say they are?

What FaceTrace does

Three things, and it tries to do them honestly.

1

Search

Upload one photo. We check it against billions of images that are already public on the open web, across social, news, video, and public records.

2

Verify

Every match comes back ranked, with a confidence score and a link to the source. You open it and judge for yourself. We never tell you who someone is.

3

Check yourself

Turn it on your own face and see what the public web shows about you. Most people are surprised, and that is worth knowing.

The name

A trace is the mark you leave behind without meaning to. A footprint, a signature, a photo someone else uploaded and tagged. Nobody sets out to leave one.

To trace is also the opposite motion: following that mark back to where it came from. That is the whole product in one word. FaceTrace follows the trail a face has already left across the public web, and walks it back to the source.

Responsible by design

A tool like this only deserves to exist if it is built with real limits. Ours are not fine print, they are the product.

Public images only

We search what is already open on the web, nothing hidden or private, and we circumvent no one's privacy settings.

Private to you

We never sell your data, and your searches stay private to your account. Your photo is never added to any index or reused as someone else's result.

Probabilistic, not proof

Every result is a confidence score with a source, not an identity verdict. Look-alikes are real, and we say so.

Not for surveillance

Built for self-protection, never for stalking, monitoring, or harassment. We enforce that, and we will close accounts over it.

Who makes it

FaceTrace is made by Thaloros Pte. Ltd., a small company in Singapore. We are a young team building a tool we wanted ourselves, and we would rather be honest about what it can and cannot do than oversell it.

We do not sell your data and we do not track you across the web. If you want the detail rather than the promise, it is all written down: our Privacy Policy explains exactly what we collect and what we do not keep, and our Responsible Use policy sets out what this tool may never be used for.

If something here looks wrong, or someone is misusing FaceTrace, tell us at our contact page. We read all of it.
